Behind the scenes of our winter
Museum of Homelessness sunset
Well it’s a wrap on Winter 2024/5. We were technically closed but still very busy. As homelessness continues to spike we have dedicated December - March to community action.
Thanks to all of you who supported our Winter Appeal. You are legends and we got a lot done with your support.
We had:
40 open days for the community with 1,500 people coming through.
This included our specialist grief space The Breathing Room, our Open Art Studio, our gardening days, cosy Thursdays with film club and taster sessions for our youth campaign collective.
We had a bumper Christmas with 65 people for dinner, a sober Wassail and we planted 2,000 Snowdrops and 1,000 bluebells.
We served 1404 community meals.
We provided 101 warm beds when the temperatures dropped, in the world’s first shelter in a museum.

We had hundreds of visits to the solidarity supplies cupboard. Here’s Mariusz dropping off new shelter suits.
We sent 391 FOIs to local authorities from our campaigning hub in the museum.
We built our dream greenhouse! Thank you to the Sarah Jane Leigh Charitable Trust for funding this greenhouse.
We had special visits from colleagues and students from Wales, Mexico, Sweden, Denmark, Belgium and the USA.
We taught on courses including the neuroscience of addiction, heritage and curating.
We also fixed the roof, built a new production office, got the drains done and built raised beds for veg.

So that was our quiet season. :) Thanks to all our supporters, crew and community for everything you do.
Now we are getting ready to reopen Easter weekend.
This week we are rehearsing fresh object stories from our collection and we can’t wait to welcome visitors back on site. Book your free visit now.
